Peer Feedback:

Before exported the music video, Lauryn and I asked peers to give their opinions on the music video to ensure that it is the correct response and to have a second opinion. The feedback reassured me that the video is portrayed in the way in which I intended it to, as many mentioned the apparent urban London theme. The committed performance also had a lot of positive criticism, which is what Lauryn and I wished to achieve, hence reaching out to someone in the music industry to lip-sync.

"The music video is really nicely put together, I like the urban theme throughout and think the codes and conventions would really appeal to your target audience. There is a nice range of location shoots all conforming to the London theme which is reinforced throughout."
-Tre.B

"I like the transitions and subtle editing included in the music video, it suits the calm flow of music. The lip synching is done really well and her performance is very committed and therefore provokes an emotional response from the audience. Well done."
- Antonia, P

"I think the cinematography is very crisp and has a range of shots and angles which engages the audience. The cutting to the beat is also very impressive as it adds dimension and creates more of a beat to the music video. The visuals towards the instrumental at the end adds a nice touch to the overall music video as it has a lot of emotional impact and is very believable."

Rough Copy of Music Video + Feedback

After presenting the video to a fresh pair of eyes, we received many positive comments on the location shots as well as the editing to the beat. Another positive comment we received on our music video was the transitions and direct correlation to the song lyrics such as mentioning a train coinciding with the visuals. However, suggested improvements were to clean up the fast pace flickers and make them more consistent as well as brushing up on the lip-synching. There were also some noticeable errors regarding the lighting of one of our shots as someone claimed it was "distracting", this can be easily corrected by cutting the footage to the part it is focused and has the correct lighting. Again the sequence including the male actor was mentioned, and suggested we get rid of it as a whole or re-shoot making sure it is of better quality.

Photo/Video Shoot (4) Evaluation:

After receiving feedback on our music video regarding our footage of the male actor, and our teacher advised us to exclude most of our footage in the TV studio as it was not the best cinematography. We came to a mutual agreement to cut all the shots and kept a few, just enough to have a narrative structure. Therefore, in order to fill the empty spaces on the timeline Lauryn and I decided to gather more ambient location shots such as Gods Own Junkyard and Oxford street as both include vibrant lights and conform to the urban, London theme. Both shoots went extremely well and resulted to a range of shots including different camera movements and angles.

Progression Post:

In order to meet my meeting objective, Lauryn and I watched multiple tutorial videos on how to edit videos creating various effects, these are the outcomes so far. We have also came to agreement to keep the editing simple yet effective to not distract the viewer from the emotions and graffiti art. The effects will also be used to enhance certain parts.

TV Studio: Male Actor Video Shoot (3) Evaluation

Lauryn and I experimented and chose our disred light colour before our actor arrived, through trial and error we decided to progress with the previously mentioned red wash of lighting will contribute to the theme and motif of love and the red hue also appears in multiple of our previous shots which will be more constant and will link nicely with the other location shots. The red lighting was created by placing red plastic over the studio lights, however we had to layer the plastic as using only one layer created a faint red wash- which wasn't the desired demeanour. Once this was done, our male actor arrived and we explained the concept and what emotions we wish to portray. The shoot went well and there was multiple shots to work with and incorporate. The music video footage is now all complete and is only a matter of editing in order for it to be complete.
